Overall, though, a great game.Unlike the previous HuniePop game, HuniePop 2: Double Date allows you to increase the power of each type of affection, making your character more powerful as you continue with more and more dates and record more and more trilogy. However, if I have one critique, it would be the lack of romance in the game. If you liked the first game, you will very probably like this one. It is definitely challenging, especially on hard level, and there is a nice selection of different personalities in the girls. While the first game rewarded learning about the girls, once all the baggage has been unlocked, there is no particular reason to learn any of the other likes/dislikes other than general curiosity. There is no "wooing" as in the first game. While this is technically a dating SIM, it feels more sex-focused than the original. Also, all dates are with two girls at once. In addition to baggage, which much be navigated during the dates, there are now stamina tokens, which allow the girl receiving them additional turns(but not additional moves). This game keeps some of the mechanics of the original, but it adds significant complexity the puzzle parts. That being said, I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Connect-3 games and is 18+. I nevertheless genuinely enjoy the game, but I am far less likely to tell my friends about how much I enjoyed it because of the nature of its NSFW content.
Its just a shame that this game, which has a great combination of refined Connect-3 mechanics, can't be found elsewhere. I mean, to each their own, and I'm not going to claim that I found the NSFW content completely unpleasing, but like. I suppose I'm wanting more of a rogue-lite.Ģ) Well. The game is only challenging at its hardest difficulty, and even then you can go though a "run" of this game with very little risk of failing your mission (if any at all). I only have two criticisms for this game.ġ) The conditions for failure are very tame. The first time I tried giving Ashley the wrong pair of shoes and she yells "WHAT ARE THOSE!" I f**king spit my drink all over my monitor. However, the writers and voice actor manage to make this woman so f**king entertaining she winds up being one of my favorite characters. I know that if I met someone IRL like Lillian, I would be incredibly annoyed. The dialogue, in combination with incredible voice acting, makes me laugh regularly. Along with several other mechanics (e.g., passion, gift giving, progression, etc.), this game turns into, not only a sophisticated puzzle game, but also something of a turn-based strategy game.ĭespite my focus on the quantitative, the quality of the writing is also fantastic (and I'm not talking about the story line). You must also manage your limitations (stamina) on two targets at once, each having their own unique modifiers ("baggage"). Of course, the game is, mechanically speaking, more than matching colors. Even the simple fact that tokens can be moved orthogonally at ANY DISTANCE suddenly adds a level of sophistication that other Connect-3 games do not have. I enjoy Connect-3 games and the mechanics of this game make it very well polished. I honestly wish there was a game just like HuniePop 2 that WASN'T a hentai.
